I've been looking for some good quality crappie rods. I'm tired of mine breaking. What are some of the higher end crappie rods yall use. I use a bait cast reel, so I'm looking for it to have micro or normal guides.

Check on dobyns , shimano crucials, shimano cumara, st.croix. I think daiwa just came out with one called a celio or something also... Looks pretty good, but that model only has a 5 year warranty. Check on the models, some have lifetime and some don't. I used most of them and can say that ones I've used where great.

Dobyns, St Croix, or the higher end Shimano's. I handled a couple of the newer Shimano Crucials last weekend that I would go to in a heart beat if I didn't have my Dobyns.

I've been using the Shimano Curcials for a while now in the 7'2" drop shot model. Really nice rods, great mid sections, and light as a feather. Anglers Pro Shop in Hurst carries them. About $150.

My bride bought me this one for my birthday. It is a little shorter than what you are looking for, but it works very well...IMO >>>======> Allstar If you don't mind paying more StCroix is top shelf. Some guys use medium action rods for crappie, but personally medium light is as heavy as I go. There are a couple to choose from in the Avid series, but if you want higher modulus in a caster you will prolly need to have it built.

I like St. Croix. There rods are built here in America with the exception of the Triumph rod. I think it is built in Mexico.

I would probably go with this madel in the Premier Series; PC70MLF $120. or a Legend Tournament Bass casting rod TBC610MLXF $240 if I were using a bait caster. I use spinning reels though.

Some rods cost a lot because of the path they take to market. They pass thru too many hands and everyone gets to mark up the price. A ProAngler rod goes from the mfg to Ed Phillips after passing thru customs. Sold direct to the user thru Ed. No 150,000 sq ft building and 100 employees to pay overhead costs on. Just because the ProAngler is cheaper doesn't in any way mean it's a cheap made rod. Put one in your hand and you'll be amazed at the quality for the price.

If you want a custom rod, you need to call Randy Nelson aka Ratmo on the forum. I've seen/fished with some of the rods he's made in the past for other people, and let me tell you, they are some bad motor scooters.
