I have an old crankbait i need to repaint. What is the best way to get the paint off without messing up the bait?

Use a good automotive paint stripper and a fine steel wool on wooden baits. On plastic baits use only the fine steel wool. Just about any stripper that will remove the paint will attack plastic.

It is not necessary to get all the paint off. Just feather the edges on sound old paint.
