Between the weather and red tide the fishing was not worth the trip. very cold and strong winds, short light rains.
Baits were whiting, squid, fresh dead shrimp, piggy perch, and sea lice.

Got there thursday night bob hall was closed. Fished the surf next to it caught several hard heads.
Friday- pier opened around 1030, whiting in the second cut. They quit biting around 2. Fished at the end of bob hall til 11 that night, no fish, not one bite. Couldn't lose shrimp. Moved location to the shipping channel. Spent the night fishing. No fish. One group of guys caught 8 nice reds off live shrimp.
Saturday- Dont know the name of the area, but we fished the channel other side of the road from crab man. We couldn't lose shrimp. Every one we talked to fishing report was the same. Had about 25 rods out but still no fish. Moved at 5 to hoarce cadwell pier and spent there night. Cleaned up on whiting off dead shrimp. Had a short run on cut piggy perch and one run off small whole whiting. Never had a chance to set the hook on either run.

We would of done better if we had bought live shrimp but we don't have an aerator so we didnt waste money on them. Hopefully well do better when we go back in march.

I wade fished the bay near the Packery Channel on the 7th-10th. Conditions were tough with overcast skies evey day, rain two days, and high tides each day. Still managed six slot reds, seven keeper trout and three keeper black drum. Caught enough undersized reds to keep me busy most days. The catching was definitely not what I am used to but am hoping for better weather and results in March when I have eight days to fish instead of four.
Caught all my keepers on live or dead shrimp under a popping cork. Threw soft plastics and caught some fish but ran out of patience and wanted to make sure I had some fillets to take home.
Did not try the surf because it was pretty rough, and when I went by the pier and the jetty they were pretty much deserted.

I had wanted to spend a night on the packery but didnt have time. Might try a sail line in a bay some were close by fin and feather.
