Season 1 was pretty good. First half of season 2 was bad, Last night's show was pretty good. I hope the writers are back on track. I had almost given up on this series.

Awesome! Looks like Rick may be back at the forefront.
The pacing of season 2 first half was dictated by the original creator Frank Durabont. He has since left the show to replaced by the show runner from "The Shield" Glen Mazzara.
He handled all of the second part of season 2 and promises "A faster pace and MORE Zombies"
One interesting note: Frank Durabont wanted the season 2 premiere to start with a team of Army Rangers going into Atlanta to help with restoring order. They quickly find the situation out of control and have to fight there way out, (encountering some of the shows regulars as they go)
They don't make it and the last Ranger (bitten) crawls into a tank (That tank) to die.
It would have been cool to see but was shot down by budget concerns and the urgency to get to the story....
