It was definatly an experience to remember, all the wind you could ask for, and pleanty of ice too, every speck of water that hit the boat turned to ice, I had to dunk the reels in the water to get them to turn after going across the water they were froze.we tried to hide behind the island from the wind, but we couldn't get the anchors to hold, 2 box anchors and the ground was so hard they wouldn't hang.
It was nice to see everyone, and I hope to see you all at Eagle Mountain next month, it may be windy that day, but I don't think it will be as cold as it was yesterday!
Good Luck to Ya!!!

Wow! What a day on the water...surely not one to forget anytime soon. I felt like we had our own small version of "Deadliest Catch" going on w/ the all the spray instantly turning into ice as soon as it hit the boat. I even had spray turn to ice on my sidescan. Like Larry, we had to dunk the reels into the water to get them to work. What a mess. Started out drifting in the big water and popped a 15lb fish right off the bat and though it was going to be a good day, but, after finishing up that drift and literally having the boat competley iced over, we decided to give up on the big water and went and looked for a cove - and the fish werent biting there. After getting things thawed out around 1pm, we went back to the big water and set up another drift and nailed a 5lber. The fish were there, but we ran out of time and out of energy to fish the waves, ice, wind and beating. We had a great time at weigh-in and enjoyed hearing each others battles stories. WTG Chase & Jason! Very impressive stringer...

One thing I need to add to the previous post....I'm very proud of Ms. Salsa for stiking it out and i'm glad we stopped by Bass Pro and got the Gore-Tex heavily insulated coveralls, that h20 suit she wears just wouldent have cut it out there. We would have been at the dock at 7:30a.m.

That big boat didn't keep you dry? That is a lot of ice....even more than James and I had on his little 16' boat.

Glad I didn't fish this one... My boss told me Friday I could have Saturday off, and for a second, I almost fished it. Looked at the weather, glad I stayed home...
