I am part of my university's bass club and I am an experienced angler but have just recently gotten into bass fishing. I would really like to find a coach or two that my team mates and I could have come talk to us/teach us the ins and outs of bass fishing. We are a fairly new club and are just looking for support and help where we can get it. We currently do not have a boat but are more than willing to meet at the ramp and would gladly split gas costs or anything. Not necessarily looking for a pro but someone very experienced in tournament fishing that would enjoy taking a few college guys out and teach us the ropes.

Thanks in advance!

There are some good ones at Lake Fork. I'm not gonna name drop but I know a few. If the team needs a place to stay hit me up.

Are you guys wanting to focus on metroplex lakes or all lakes in Texas? Are you guys going to enter tourneys?

We are just looking to gain general knowledge that we can apply to any lake and build off of that. We are currently registered to fish sam rayburn, lake eufala, lake lavon and toledo bend. I have put in consideration of joining another local bass club outside of my university in hopes to gain knowledge but have conflicting times with school and work. We are wanting to enter more tourneys as we progress in our skills

Nothing beats time on the water. Lots of guys posting on here regularly with open back seats. I also suggest fishing co angler side of tournaments. You can learn a lot from watching those guys fish. Good luck.

I work at Bass Pro Shop at Lake Ray Hubbard. I would help you guys out the best I could. We have a meeting room that could be used. I have a lot of literature that I used when learning that gives a lot of the basics of seasonal times of the year and baits and techniques that work during those times. I could also give you guys some seminars on the basics of flipping, pitching, carolina rigging, and other techniques as well as some info on a lot of the lakes you would be fishing. I could also try to get some other coworkers and people with boats to look into taking some of you guys out for some on the water instructions. A couple of the younger guys have even fished on college clubs.
Send me an email and we will see if there is something we can get set up in the future.

I nominate this for "Reply of the Month"!!!!!!

That was dayum funny!

Now, back to the subject at hand! Pick a lake you might like to fish and try to catch on to one of the guys that frequently post about that lake. There are lots of guys on here that are more than happy to take others fishing!

Don't be afraid to ask or start an "Anybody got a back seat open for this weekend" thread!

There are all kinds of nice people here on the TFF.

Good luck, fellas!

ultralite09,
Normaly I would be glad to help, but I'm already working with another college. There are plenty of great anglers on the forum that I'm sure would be happy to step up and help your game.

Bill, we cannot thank you enough for your support, those baits you donated to us did catch us a few last weekend but we just could not connect with any keepers. Looking forward to continuing to work with you for our future tournaments!

Just get in touch with me by email or come by the store. We will be real busy for the next few weeks for the Fishing Classic at the store but we can get started right after that. We are going to be having some great deals also on a lot of baits etc. I look forward to hearing from you.
