There are some nice fish in that lake. Boated well over 20 to 6.5 pounds with 4 over 4#. Only a couple of the fish were dinks. All others were fat and healthy. My partner and I both lost a couple of hogs at the boat too. We did pretty good for not knowing the lake at all. It sure is nice fishing with no wakes to throw you out of the boat too.

that last fish was 22"...cnr record surprisingly. I am not messing with it though.

lol..no kidding! I did get the redear cnr record on dunlap(got the certificate in the mail), but never saw it online. I think it got beat 3 days later.

haha yea Kent you have the picture with the fish to qualify for the record. I checked the criteria for the CnR on my blue and I didnt get a pic with the fish and missed a few other details. I would have gotten in the books with it for sure but wasnt thinking about that when I caught it.

Sorry for the thread hijack and to bust your CnR bubble. I have seen some amazing fish come out of that lake that would dwarf the 22" though.

A question for the locals that fish that lake regularly:

Is there always that much trash all over the lake? There was trash everywhere...especially along the south banks. It was like being on calaveras.

Hendo since our last rise it gave the whole downtown a huge enema and that stuff got flushed into the lake. Junk from 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th streets all flowing right in the mid lake area. I wish I had a dollar for every styro cup Ive seen in the last 2 weeks.

I was thinkin it must have been from that big rain we had last week flushin out all the drains and culverts. What a mess.

There is almost always trash in this lake. Especially after heavy rains.

There are some hogs in there for sure. Especially during the spawn. you can see the big ole gals sitting on their nests near the banks during that time. I don't eat any fish from there though. CnR only. Years back there was a warning about eating fish from there. Now it is supposed to be safe. I still don't.

The biggest Bass I've caught in LBL (so far) was under IH 35 bridge around the bridge pilings. It was 8lbs on a tx rigged worm. I've caught 5&6 pounders there too free-lining large minnows.

I work downtown/ East austin. once or twice a year, I'll pack my bass buggy (10' pelican) to work, and hit ole LBL. It's pretty convenient urban fishing.

I know you are NOT suppose to but next time you catch some that size on Town Lake how about catching them there and releasing in Canyon. Just a thought. LOL

Those fish from LBL would be lost into the abyss on Canyon. hah.

I did the same thing on that lake about a month ago. Identical to your trip, 1st time on the lake, throwing senkos, and boated very nice fish. I had like 3 fish over 5 and nothing under 2 lbs. I also lost a huge one at the boat too.

I am very impressed with that little lake except I wish that you could at least idle around. That way you can cover more water.

be sure your trailer is locked onto your hitch. Somebody tried to steal my trailer while I was fishing there.

Yea I was worried about that. I stayed at the holiday inn which is cust about 50 yrds from a boat ramp and just kept everything at the hotel lot. I tipped one of the workers $40 to watch out for my stuff while I was there.
