I learned to fish with Zebco 202's with my Dad but the first I ever bought was the 404. My first open face was prpbably a Garcia Cardinal. Now I always use Mitchel 300's. Inexpensive and tough as nails. Never used baitcasters till about 10 years ago. Got spoiled bad too My good friend Terry taught me on a Shimano Calcutta 200. Not the least bit inexpensive but almost bullet proof. Now I have a collection of 200's and 400's.

When I was around 10 I took one of my dads lew's on a pistol grip lightning rod and started practicing in the yard. After a few weeks he started letting me fish with it. Later he bought me 2 shimano crestfires on pistol grip shakespear rods. The first reel I bought on my own was a curado b I saved for my freshman year of high school. I still have it and always will. Still have the crestfires, too.

I caught all my fish on it on cheap eagle hooks, split shot weights, and purple walmart worms.

Those were the days, now I've got Revo Premiers on Cara rods and don't think I catch fish any better than I did then, in fact I know I don't. What a bunch of buffoons we all are hahaha.

Ditto! A round, red, Abu Garcia was my first reel too. Around 1990 or so. Cost a fortune, or so I thought at the time.

I remember my first baitcaster. It was a Quantum something or another. It is sitting off the point on the north east side of the 922 IDB bridge on Ray Roberts in about 15ft of water. Been there for probably 15 years now. Bought it at The Bass House in Lake Dallas.

First reel? Zebco 202.....thought this was pretty much standard growing up.

First baitcaster was a Shimano Lexica

Mine was a Daiwa Triforce baitcast combo. That thing could sling a lure like no other, many times I spooled it throwing 1/2 oz. RattleTraps. It didn't take me long to strip the gears but it was a fun ride.

My first that I bought with my own money was a Zebco 404 outfit. The first baitcaster was a Ryobi V-mag 3.

The first reel I used was a Zebco 202 with a 3ft fiberglass rod. My dad bought if for me when I was eight. I caught a 2lb largemouth out of Ray Hubbard with it. The first reel I ever purchased was a Johnson Century spincast reel. I bought it because this is what Virgil Ward used on TV. My first baitcaster was a Daiwa Millionaire. After a few backlashes I put it back in box were it still remains. That reel is about 30 years old and still looks brand new.
