My unit will not lock on when i set it in the bottom of the boat. When i take it out it will lock on to the side of the boat or on the concrete. Has anyone seen this before? It also reads wierd readings like if i am 3 feet off the ground it may read 14 feet. Just wondering if my unit is possibly bad? Any help would be grateful. Thanks,

skeeter jamms i would go to lowrance.com and update the newest software for that unit. i think it 2.5. follow the instruction it very easy to do.

here's a starting point for your settings.

ping 75
color line 74
sentivity if running manual 78-84
chart speed 100
surface clutter low
also put the unit in shallow water mode, you will found that in sonar features after u update the unit.

noise reduction low

lakeman, thats a good starting point that i found. then you can adjust to your liken. only thing you will wont have is the shallow mode in sonar features to adjust.
