I figured I would make this post a day or so after this event took place so I could cool down. I took my boy & girl out to Hubbard yesterday morning to do some catfishing in a quite cove. We went to Three Fingers Cove & started pulling up some nice eating size cats. After a few hours, a guy pulling a wakeboarder drove into the cove & kept on driving all around us! The chop was so bad, that I had to pull up anchor & leave! I got right to the spot were the bridge used to be & just started to turn to the left when here comes the yahoo! He is looking back at the guy on the board & not watching or even looking to see were I was. I was screaming to get his attention & then realized he was not going to hear me until it was too late. I jumped to the front of the boat jerking my son by the arm with me & dove onto my daughter. I was trying to get all of us out of the boat but, did not make it. He hit the back of my motor & knocked all of us to the floor hard & spun the boat around 180 degrees & instantly filled the boat with water!!! My kids have cuts & bruises & I broke my wrist. They are scared of going out in the boat now! The guy never stopped!!!!! WTF??? I did not get any numbers or even a make & model, I was so freaked out & it all took place in what seemed like a fraction of a second. I did report it to the police who then notified the Game Warden. They said without a description, not much could be done. I am just glad my kids are safe. I told my story, now I am going to watch TV with my kids!
Thanks all

I am glad to hear that you and your children were not seriously injured. I would if I were you , check with all boat repair shops, to see if any one has a wake boat in for repair or for alook. I would not let this reat until you find these guys. I am sure you will see them again. Good luck.

Wow. I am glad you and your children are okay. I cannot believe the idiot did not stop. Wish you would have taken a picture of his boat while you were trying to fish in the cove. People like that should not be allowed on the water in a boat.

Lets see if I can answer some of these questions. The only colors the kids & I can remember is a white boat with blue accents. It had a male driver with a female passenger and a male on the wakeboard. There were a lot of boats fishing just outside the Rush Creek Marina. Those were the only boats close to me that I could see. He hit us and drove out to the dam and up along the west side of the lake. I was in a faded white and maroon 14' aluminum boat with a white 9 1/2hp motor. I was unable to go after him. This is my catfish tub that the kids and I like to poke around in coves with. This all happend Sunday around 2:30pm. Checking the boat repair shops was suggested by the police & my regular fishing partner is a cop. He is making calls to friends and asking for favors. I am usually out in a white and red Skeeter, so if you see I guy with short hair & a beard with a blue cast on his right wrist, that would be me!
Thanks for the advice & thoughts!

I am glad to hear that your family is safe. Hopefully, they can overcome their fears and soon begin sharing the joys of boating and fishing.
There seemed to be an epidemic of stupidity on RH yesterday. I saw a wakeboard boat in a very small clear area north of Miller Rd & the RR bridge pulling a boarder while a pontoon was trying to fish some nearby timber. It was so tight, the wakeboard boat was practically having to do doughnuts to stay in clear water. On two seperate occassions yesterday I had boats that I was meeting almost head-on but the other boat was headed slightly from my port toward my starboard. On both occasions, I showed clear intent of a turn to my starboard so that we could pass port to port. Both times, the idiot(s) kept plowing straight ahead and I had to gun the engine and turn hard right to avoid them. Both boats were "plowing" (riding "bow-up" - not on plane) and the drivers just waved when they passed by. The only consolation is that the way those guys were driving their boats, their fuel bills will have them in dry dock before too long.
I always assume that the other guy is a complete idiot and has no understanding of the rules of the road. I just avoid them like the plague whenever possible.

You may also want to post over here: Dallas Wakeboarding.com. Someone there may know someone that knows someone or heard of something. If you don't post over there before tomorrow around noon, I will. Someone saw something. Glad that everyone is mostly okay.

suggestion get a word or two out to the local fiberglass shops so they can be on the lookout for a damaged boat. what type of boat was it? what part of the suspect boat struck yours? that will give garland, rowlett and texas parks and wildlife a place to start.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime and if caught there will be jail time for the driver. It's the same thing with automobiles, except the victims seldom drown.

Thank the Lord that there were no serious physical injuries to you and your's. We can't exactly say that about the psyche of your children after this incident. Be safe and good luck finding the A-holes that are responsible.

Good to hear you and the kids are safe. It is just amazing that they did not stop to render aid. Pathetic.

First of all, thank God you and your kids are OK. Second of all, this guy needs to be caught. I would not give up on it. Did yall swap paint? Is there paint on your boat? Are you missing your paint from your boat? This could be a big key if you see a boat running around with your paint on it? I hate that someone can get away with something like this. This person has no business anywhere near a lake, let alone a boat. I wish I could have witnessed this. I guarantee he would not have gotten away.
Stop and Render Aid The operator of any vessel involved in a boating accident must stop and render whatever assistance is necessary unless such action would endanger his own vessel, crew or passengers. The operator must give his/her name, address and vessel identification number in writing to any injured person and to the owner of any damaged property.
Failure to do so in an accident that results in death or serious bodily injury is punishable as a Parks and Wildlife Felony. Failure to do so in an accident that does not result in death or serious bodily injury is punishable as a Parks and Wildlife Class A misdemeanor.
