So how many of you have discovered the mother board problem? I was on Roberts Sunday morning early and my mother board fried I guess... I didnt even get a chance to wet a hook. Gotta love technology... I called a buddy that services Minn Kotas, first thing he asks is my serial number and bingo yup your mother board is toast. Apparently this has been a major issue?

I havn't seen a "mother" board issue. There have been some problems with a sensor board. The sensor board effects the steering.

Early on there were issues with the foot pedal locking up. It was the board in the foot that went out. I was advised early on that they had two different vendors making the board and one of the vendors took shortcuts in manufacturing there board causing a failer. Simple fix and not a real big issue.

So it is a warranty repair for sure?
Dumb question the GPS antenna for the Ultrex, where should it be mounted?

The heading sensor? Best if mounted back by the transom. The further away from the trolling motor the more accurate it is going to be.

The white external puck is not a heading or GPS antenna. It is a directional sensor that allows the motor (via Bluetooth) to know which way is forward, backward, right, and left. It is required for the JOG feature and is not going to be any better at the back of the boat vs the front.

Minn Kota calls it a heading sensor. From their manual:
HEADING SENSOR FUNCTIONS
The Minn Kota Heading Sensor provides boat heading information to a Bluetooth compatible i-Pilot or i-Pilot Link equipped Minn Kota motor.
It contains a compass that senses the boats heading. The heading is used by the i-Pilot or i-Pilot Link system for navigation features such as
Spot-Lock Jog. The Heading Sensor does not contain a GPS receiver and it does not change or control the orientation of the boat. The Minn
Kota Heading Sensor can only communicate with other Bluetooth compatible Minn Kota products.

I could be mistaken but I could swear that Slade in one of his online seminars stated that if you place it in the back of the boat that it gave a more accurate reading.

I believe this is what Slade was talking about. Placing this closest to the transducer at the back of the boat will get a more accurate reading. This is a GPS antenna

Here is the sensor for the i-Pilot system. Yes, it does state heading sensor. You are correct Bobby.
It is, however, a directional sensor for the jog feature when spot locked.
