Lake Ray Roberts is way high right now as it was shut in to take the pressure off Lewisville Lake during last week's rains. So what we have here is flooded brush flower fields and habitat that was deep green after the spring rains and subsequent releases (that kept the water off that habitat). I saw something today that looked a lot like a green algae bloom, and wherever I saw that, there were no fish. So, I took my client on a long run (from the Sanger boat ramp area on the west side of Ray Roberts, to the Lantana Flats on the east side. Thank goodness for the calm day! And that's where we found them finally - a lot of surface sucking and carp migrating - in one direction - out of the cove. It may not be an algae bloom (I'm no biologist), it may just be pollen, but whatever is on the water, the carp, and all fish, don't like it. But, that's where we managed these fish today.

Sorry folks. I meant for this to go into the "Guide Reports" sticky.

Thanks for the mistake... Um, I mean report. Glad you got into them. I'm thinking about running out there tomorrow and looking around.

Same situation at Lewisville. Fish have abandoned areas where I usually find them. Water looks strange.

With the intense heat coming, it (that green stuff) could get even more intense. I do think the winds were helping though. There are also "debris islands" floating in the middle of Ray Roberts - tree branches, leaves and such.

Yes the carp fishing there has been very strange lately. I was just there a couple days ago and I was stalking them in a flooded parking lot along with some Largemouth up to 4 pounds and gar as well.

A Lagoon Boat http://lagoonboats.com Made by A&L Fiberglass in Cocoa, FL. Ask for the "Texas Fly Master" model ... and he'll get a good laugh! I'd be glad to take any serious buyers on a ride.
