My wife and I are planning a trip to Venice, La. She is checking out the guide selections. Can any of you recommend a good, reliable guide?x

I have used the Granier family twice, had great trips both times.

Number should be 504-430-2845, Ronnie Granier.

Anyway, we fished for trout, reds and flounder. Tons of fun!

How is the lodging situation with the Grainer family? I want to take my wife as well but don't want to be in a lodge with 20 other guys and not have a private bathroom for her. I have been twice but had mixed results with the same guide as a result am looking for another guide myself. Fishing can be awesome there if with a good guide.

J-Bar Sportsman's Lodge in Buras (just up the road from Venice). I've fished with them several times. Great family run business. Super clean and comfortable lodging. Good home cooked meals, including your catch. Boat ramp is only a couple of blocks from the lodge. Jeff uses a 24 foot Bluewave and will put you on the fish.

Here's my boss with a redfish he caught last year fishing with Jeff.

We didn't lodge down in Venice right at the marina. We stayed up the road in a motel as I recall both times.

But, the Granier family, or another like the name give to you by Texan Till I Die. should be a starting point. This way, at least you have a bit of info on the guide.

My brother first used Granier with a group of businessmen, sort of like a fishing junket, so the Graniers have some corporate business, I guess, and that speaks well for them.
