Going to attempt to get my artificial saltwater tackle box going but I have some questions?

I mainly fish chocolate bayou and chocolate bayou and port o connor. I was going to ask you guys to label out a few easy but effective soft plastics and lures that I would be able to use. I was in port o connor yesterday using some h and h cocahoe minnows with a light jig head and I was catching a few small speckled trout and 1 red. I'm just trying to get my soft plastic tackle box with a variety of diffrent one. So my main question is what are some good but easy soft plastics for all the areas I listed? And what pattern or color should I pick up? Thanks alot guys, yall will help me out so much.

I really just have three choices I drag around:
Hogie super minnow, pumkin/chart when it's overcast
Hogie super minnow, red/white tail when it's bright.
Norton sand eel: tequila when water is xtra clear.

My neighbor only uses norton bull minnow plum/chart. And does well.

Lesson? Find what works for you, and have confidence with it.

Like Pat implies...before you go spending $100, remember to KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid. Over the years, I've found myself getting "caught" by many lures when you really just need to have about 3-4 soft plastic colors. For those I go with:

Hogie Morning Glory (dark water/days)
Hogie Plum Chartreuse
Hogie Tequila Gold?(That's what norton calls it) (clear water/days)
Norton Sand Eel Jr. Glow Chartreuse (clear water/days)

And if you wanna splurge...

Gulp rootbeer gold 5" flukes

For top water a skitter walk or top dog jr should be solid

That should get you started for under $30.

I've tried several brands in many colors. There probably are times when the color has to be just right to do well. That east beast, chicken on a chain, chicken of the C type of color seems to work in different water conditions pretty consistently. A dark tail like roach or morning glory or Mardi gras is nice to have in dirty stained water. A light color or a little pink in it is nice in clear water. I like to have a color or two without chartreuse in the tail. BA molting is a favorite or green moon for early in the year. I know there have been times I've fished side by side with someone using a different color and yet have very similar results.

Good info - if half that stuff works you should limit out in no time.

Location is a the real key to good fishing.

Then you get to have some real FUN with those lures.

I use Rockport Rattler jigheads, on a 1/8 oz. Chartreuse/RedEye RR with soft plastics being plum/chartreuse SW Bass Assassin a lot ... and have been using the Gulp! 3" Pearl shrimp with a 1/4 oz. Glow/RedEye or a Pink/WildEye RR jig a lot lately.

FYI: Last time I both wade fished and fished the deep wells I was using the Gulp! Pearl White with the 1/4 oz. Glow/RedEye RR jig at the wells and the 1/4 oz. Pink/WildEye wade fishing and I was out catching the live shrimp and live croaker and I was using all types of bait/lures on the same boat or in the same wade area.
