Galveston question

I was surf fishing around South Padre last week and my wife wanted to spend our last week in the hill country but when they said the low temp was going to be in the 20's she said back out to the coast. My question is will the same tactics that worked in South Padre work around Galveston and what species might I expect to catch in the surf. I caught Whiting and Pompano by South Padre.
