Need help. Wanna use braid on spinning tackle. Any suggestions on brand and lb. test to use to catch 3-5 foot sharks. Rod/Reel setup suggestions as well. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

On my light gear I use 50-80lb SpiderWire. It's never failed me

Sorry, I read your post wrong. Use the same thing that you use to catch red fish except make sure you have a heavy 3-5ft section of mono before a metal leader. Sharks will tail slap your line as they run and fray your line. I have caught many, many 3-5ft sharks on a $30 Walmart combo. I never use anything less than 50b test in the suf. I use braid on most of my casted lines to help get distance when casting. Use a 10-12 foot rod. Bigger rods make it harder to reel in the fish. Smaller rods make it harder to get distance with your cast

I agree with the 50 lb braid. You can get quite a bit of it onto a spinning reel and it is beefy enough to get in a shark the size you specified or possibly even larger. I have heard much discussion in the past about which brands are better, but my suspicion is that they are probably all very similar. Some just cost an arm and a leg and others don't.
