Im afraid you might be two days too late for the surf, man....winds are supposed be screaming as opposed to the way it was thursday (noon-evening)....its supposed to be a mess

As far as catching bait, nothing beats throwing out the ole castnet....you could also cast your smaller poles shallow with dead shrimp and catch croaker/whiting and use them for bait for your surf rods....

Just remember that if you plan on getting in the surf when its rough and currents are strong....ALWAYS WEAR A PFD!!!!....better to be safe than sorry...

Tight lines!!!

+1 on the PFD...too many sad stories out there right now. Rip currents are very powerful, scary, and sometimes deadly. Now is not the time to test your limits, or check out the 3rd bar. Not worth it.

To catch bait, use a cast net off the jetties or bulkhead waiting for schools of mullet or menhaden. A good pair of polarized sunglasses is essential for catching bait. You might get lucky on a blind toss here and there, but a pair of $15 polarized sunglasses will pay for itself quickly. If the fishing is slow, it is often just as fun to throw your cast net. Beware of rocks, as replacing $35 Old Salts can get expensive!
