State water snapper trip - 02/28/22 09:22 PM

I have been looking for a party boat state water snapper trip. Cant seem to find one. I have a beginner kid i would like to either take snapper fishing for spring break or Red fishing. Is there a state water snapper party boat out of Port Aransas or Galveston? Or even a recommended red guide for March 11

Thank You

Check with Dolphin Docks out of Port Aransas. They have a couple of boats that I believe do State water trips.

Dolphin Docks runs a 4 hour targeting State snapper. I was down there a week ago.

JJ4MEL: If you watch their live cam upon return of the Capt. Paul after the 4-hour trips, you'll seldom see many red snapper. Lots of sharks, rays and sand trout. When they ran the 8-hour state water trips, the red snapper catches were usually good. I wouldn't waste my time and money on a 4-hour trip. IslandJim

Oh heck no, I wouldn't waste any money on the 4 hour. Those are mostly sight seeing trips. When I was down their last week, they said all they are targeting mostly now is the vermilion snapper due to all the snowbirds wanting to get those. I was down there 4 days and nobody would go out to target anything else unless you paid for a 24-36 hour trip. Fishing from the jetties stunk even worse with the occasion sheephead caught with live shrimp against the rocks. Oversized black drum were being caught off the piers in Fulton and Goose Island, but that was about it.

When I was running charters out of freeport 10 years ago if you had a reef fish permit it was against the law to run a state water trip and they could take your federal permits if caught doing state water trips.

Dolphindocks only targets Texas red snapper on specific rare trips using the Captain Paul boat. They can be from 4 to 8 hours. My wife and I have been on some great 4 hour trips for redfish, sheepshead, trout, gafftops, and red snapper. The 8 and 12 hour trips to federal waters can also be amazing. The first picture is a 4 hour trip, the second is a state water trip targeting red snapper, and the final trip is a 12 hour trip where we caught over 100 kingfish. Not all trips are like this, but they can be fantastic.
