Rod recommendations??? - 01/28/15 04:37 AM

I need a rod for a Penn battle 8000reel and an Avet lx 6.0:1 reel. Both will be used for tuna fishing. Primarily jigging. I am not looking to spend a over $100 on each rod. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, You will most likely discover it's harder to control your fish
when you're straight up/down & near the boat. Don't get me wrong, not denying
the cheap gear will work, but this is tuna fishing. EVERY aspect of tuna fishing is way more expensive than just about any other fish. IMO it's better to save some xtra $$, & buy the right rod the first time.
Serious Tackle down in Houston has a line of jigging-SPECIFIC rods
(SeaMagic dragonfly) that are in the $150-200 range that will work much better for what you're trying to accomplish.
If this interests you, I would recommend the 300g version.

That rod I used to fight my tuna was only $100. It held up very well and had lots of backbone..
Stingray rods out of FL.

I still have it if you want to come get it for $75
