175 Zukes is as much as I'd want to try putting on this one.
That or two of the new 3.0L 150 Mercury 4 strokes. Supposedly they are pretty strong and reliable motors.

The Mercs can be had for as little as 20.5k. Pretty cheap for two 150 counter rotating 25 inch four strokes.
Add in controls, the merc monitors and install and you're still around 24 grand.

I really believe it will get a pair of 1994 Yamaha 130 motors. Because I have them and they are paid for. Maybe next year something newer and more HP.

Believe that boat is rated for 150s max. I may be wrong but check it out first.

I run a 1998 26 Glacier Bay and have since 2004.

It is rated for 280 maximum HP. It is the SL5. I believe the SL1 was rated for less HP.

I think the 1996-98 were rated for 300 HP.

Your crazy! I like it! Looks like you might end up needing new axles too when you get it ready we should race!

I just need some good weather. I am in the middle of recoring the deck. The axles are new, wheels not so good.

So you have 300 HP, why would I race you with 260 HP? I might follow behind though.

Re: Seacat - 04/19/15 02:10 PM

I have not been able to work on it because of the rain. Hopefully Monday and Tuesday I can finish the deck.
