My Dad's 1959 12-foot Flat-Bottom

I re-acquired this last Thanksgiving and have been getting him running and prettied-up.

Believe it is a row boat.

I used to have one. Bought it with a 1973 Johnson 4 HP for $65 used it for several years and when it was past the point of no return sold it for scrap and got $50 for it. The motor was direct drive, no reverse no neutral, if it was running you were going! Upgraded the motor to a 1957 Evinrude 7.5 HP neutral and reverse was a nice feature!

Thanks for the replies, guys! The boat, a SportsKraft 12 "River Boat", was made in Grand Prairie, TX, by General Boat Co. I have a 1961 Johnson 5.5 Twin on it, and it scoots. I made a front deck forward with a seat mount and a hatch for anchor storage. The center seat mounts the other swivel seat. This 57-year-old boat still has the original foam flotation! It had been in a field, full of water for about 15 years!

This boat has a 36" transom, but they made one with an 18" transom. That's a pirogue!

Using it in the Rockport flats every week!
