Heading to Corpus for the weekend

I am making my first trip to Corpus this weekend with my boys, any advice on what to expect? What is a safe pier to fish with two teens at night? Any other options as I have looked at Oso, Packery channel, Cosway, and Bob Hall. Any current reports on whats biting and what to use for bait? We would like to bring home some fish, but they also would like catching many vs sitting on a pier catching only a couple. (That's fishin though!!) Just throwing it out there in case of a better area.

if you had more time to plan, a little known resource is the Naval Air Station in Corpus. You can apply for a guest pass of sorts that gives you access to the base, they have a really nice marina with rental boats and fishing kayaks.The guest pass is not free, maybe 20 bucks. but there is a pier, and a campground and a bunch of other stuff to make the trip easy.
