Rollover Pass Tips?

Rollover Pass Tips? - 08/10/15 05:10 PM

Me and a friend are heading over to Rollover this week. Ive never fished there. Im up for wade fishing as it looks like there are some flats on the bay side, but if yall know of any better methods there, I'd be willing to give them a shot.

Other than that, does anyone have any idea how to fish the canal or what bait/method to use to go for flounder/reds/trout? Only asking cause I'm not sure if it fishes differently than the rest of Galv. Bay.

do not wade the surf there. the bay side is safe, but the surf side is not. my favorite way to fish the channel is with curly tailed soft plastics, rigged in tandum with 3/16 oz jigheads, white in front and red or yellow in the rear. cast up current as far as you can and let them sink for about a 5 count them start reeling and jerking. be prepared to get tangled with other anglers and getting cut off. best to rig several tandum rigs and have them ready to retie. here's a cartoon that used to be the place mats at the old cafe there by the old bridge.

In the channel, Which side of the pass is best? The bay or surf side. Does it really matter?

You can get tons of info from Miss Nancy's Bait Camp on facebook if you do it.
Like smooth said don't wade fish gulf unless you have death wish. I fish the north side of the road. there is a small hole about 3 feet deeper that hold fish. Its about where the trash cans are but back to the road a bit.
live bait works great as well.
