Prorated licenses to Aug 31st? Tags? - 05/01/24 06:43 PM

There is so much noise on Google and non-specific info on TPWD, here I am. 😉

With only 3 months to needing a new 'public' license, is a "new" fishing license today pro-rated (i.e. 25% of the full cost)? I am fishing in state parks right now so, I am covered when there but, I would not be covered on public beaches and piers without a Saltwater license.

Any other license issues I should be aware of? Is the Red Drum tag just for a 28"+ Red Drum? I am still going through the rules and regs so, ... I don't know what I don't know at this point!!!

TIA,
Sid

You can buy an annual ''year from purchase" license, which, as the name suggests, is valid for one year from the date you buy it. So if you buy one today, it's good until 4/30/2025.

Yes, the red drum tag is for one oversized (over 28") bull red.

FWIW, Senior licenses still act on the August to August time frame, and no pro-rating.
