Matagorda or Padre Island national seashore 5/18-5/21

Thinking of camping on the beach at one of these two places next week. Anyone know the conditions and how the fishing is off the beach this time of year? Any tips or info is appreciated!!

trout are in the surf right now.

what's the best time for trout in the surf...??

PINS has been on fire the last month. Spanish, trout. Reds, Jack's, and big sharks are all being landed right now. The weather has gotten windy so not sure how the water is looking now. If its calm you can fish the 2nd gut and throw top water Zara spooks or any other walking bait for big trout. Gold spoons and live mullet will catch ya just about anything. Fresh head on shrimp with fish bites will get ya whitting, and pomps.

tide doesn't seem to effect the fish in the surf as much as the bay. i like to be in the water at first light, even if it's a dead tide.
