Anyone ever purchased a new boat in Oklahoma and have it titled in Texas? And finance it too? How did it go?
We work with cross state purchases as a normal part of our business. Seems nobody buys a boat from the local dealer on the corner anymore.
Get a simple bill of sale signed from the seller and you as the buyer. It provides a very simple chain of ownership. Your state will like having that. Just a simple "who is buying what from who for how much".
Always pay attention to any current liens the seller might have. NEVER NEVER NEVER hand check or cash to a seller with a lien in place unless you are standing at his bank. Be sure the lien is released and the seller has proof of that.
Being able to have a clear title going to your state is what they need.
OK is a title holding state - that means the seller should have his title. If there is a lien it will be typed on the front. If there was a lien and it has been released, the seller should have a paper proving that.
Let us know if we can help.
Thank you,
