Landing bigger fish

Folks, how do you land a large fish on a bank with thick vegetation? Yesterday I lost decent bass when I tried to lift it above the water line before it got tangled in the vegetation - the line snapped. Any suggestions are more than welcome...

Heavy duty braided line?

I quit bass fishing years ago and now mostly go for big cats. I over compensate on my line strength cause I hate losing big fish.

A long handled net will do wonders. I buy a cheap landing net and add a six foot piece of aluminum tubing to extend the handle. Carrying the net around is a pain but it will really help the catch rate.

Can be found at Academy, Dicks Sporting Goods, Bass Pro, Cabela's or maybe even e-bay.
Might be less cumbersome that long handle , especially if hiking distance to bank.
How much vegetation you trying to cover?

It's 5-6 foot from the shore line.

I recommend the telescoping nets as easy packing and convenient use and well worth the cost.
