Ideas for rod holders while fishing on concrete - 07/14/16 10:36 PM

Due to the circumstances I experienced recently fishing with my daughter http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...wi#Post11716868 I was curious to know if anyone had ideas for DIY rod holders while fishing on rock or concrete?

My daughter and I currently fish a small lake that is concrete at the end. She and I were using folding chair backs as the rod holder, but when she lost her rod, it was due to the chair collapsing under the pressure of the fish hitting her line.

Ideally, I would like to see if anyone has tried a cheap/easy DIY fishing cart that I could add rod holders to.I really don't want to go out and spend $50 on a wagon and add to it. Just trying to see if I can find something CHEAP and easy to make. Thanks for any info/ideas you could provide.

Sitting in the chair, holding the rod with hands works pretty good. Cheap as it gets too

Cheap idea.... tie it up with some paracord to a tree or something fixed that way it can't take the rod into the water. And if it does you can pull the rod out of the water by the cord and retrieve it.

They make rod holders that clip on the edge of a five gallon bucket that you could use. Or you cut from top a few v out of five gallon bucket for each rod and fill with water. You should be good to go then.

I've have used a 2-hole cinder block. Just stick a rod butt in each hole and wait for the action. This works good if you don't have to lug the block very far.

In the past I have just set the rod down on the concrete with a bell and tied some twine to it secured to something heavy like a cooler. Doesn't work well with big fish and hook sets but for smaller eaters it will work in a pinch
