Where to fish around DFW in Winter - 02/28/16 07:15 PM
I'm looking for somewhere I can take my brother in law and catch some sand bass or catfish from the bank this time of year. Are there any creeks or dams (below the dam) that I can go that's halfway close to McKinney? I'm a big bass fisherman but don't know much about cats or sandbass. Any info is appreciated!!!

If Rowlett Creek isn't too far, then that is a great place for the white bass run that is starting up now. Either Park at the bridge at Miller road near the mouth or at he Rowlett Creek nature preserve. Check out the thread called Rowlett Creek 2016.
I'm new to white bass also, but I've heard most people have success white rooster tails, road runners, small flukes, and livr minnows

The 380 bridge area above lavon is usually good for a nice white bass run as well as a good crappie spawn, provided it's not too flooded right now. Fairly close to McKinney.
Several TFF'ers have had good success on both species this time of yr in years past.
Don't see why it wouldn't be any good this yr with all the rain, etc.
