I would like to see, or if you cant post pics please describe your "go to" creek combo.

What is your choice of rod, line and jig or other bait or lure?

What do you take if you can only take one lure and one rod/reel?

I really want to see a pic of the legendary UNPAINTED jig head set up! thumb

I travel light when I go creek fishing. I carry a 7ft medium light spinning rod with 6lb test line. I keep my jigs, forceps, headlamp, folding net and stringer in a small cheap back pack. The only other thing I carry is a minnow bucket sometimes. Simply fish every piece of structure you can find or fan cast as you walk the banks.

5-6 ft ultralight to light action rod, prefer a quantum but right now i got a Berkley Cherrywood, and a BPS store brand special. Quantum Optix 10 reel on each rod, ( use 2 during crappie season) loaded with 6 lb Berkley Trilene Mono. Box has a knife, a stringer, a small tape measure, 1/32 and 1/16th. oz. unpainted jig heads(walmart, academy and bps clearance rack specials), hollow body tube jigs, basic colors, red/chartreuse, black/chartreuse, blue/white, chartreuse with gold metal flake, and tricolor tubes, usually red head, blue or green body, chartreuse tail. Cigar bobbers, and glow sticks. That's it. I have two rods but only carry one to the creek bank, my box is small but stuffed. lightweight Plano box, also from clearance racks when available. Cheap stuff, but deadly for crappie.

My sand bass box is even more ridiculous: Same rods/reels, and box stuffed with stringer, knife, tape measure, needle nose pliers, and 1/6th and 1/8th. oz. rooster tails and blue fox whiptails( you know, the ones walmart sells that has 5 in a pack for 6 bucks), both #'s 1 and 2. That's it. (creek spawn run box, lake box has slabs and i use baitcasting reels with 7 ft med action rods, and no line stronger than 14, also Berkley Trilene.

-7' light action rod
-Abu Garcia cardinal spinning reel
-8lb BPS mono
-I have my tackle, scissors, and pliers in my back pack
-5 gallon bucket.
-if I could only take one lure it would be either blk/chart or a monkey milk colored plastic. On a pink jig head.

Keep it as simple and light as possible, the walk back to the truck will be a little harder with 25 slabs in that bucket woot clap
Lol happy fishing to all, I'm on my way to a creek now. Hopefully the fish will work with me.

The Tackle Box:

The Reel: Quantum Optix 10

The Line:

The notorious UNPAINTED JIG HEAD(1.32nd. oz.), and the Cheapo Productions(10 for 96 cents!) Hollow body tube jig

The cigar bobber, with the green tip being the glow stick, and the black tip the stopper.

The magic depth at which the crappie have been stacked after dark for the past month or so, 31 inches below the bobber:

The end result:

Go getcha some!

Cool thanks for sharing! I've got those type of jigs.

Do you move the float much or slow reel it?

Will they hit it just sitting there?

I cast, sit twitch, sit, twitch, sit, all the way to the shore, since on Wednesday night they were hitting as close as 18 inches from the shore. When they get uppity, they will hit it when it's just sitting there. I just am not of a nature to cast it out and let it sit. If the fish aren't active, then by jove, I need to be, till I entice them to bite, or move on in search of them.

Well, I carry with me a 7ft ugly stick, abu garcia cardinal 10 spinning reel, and 4 lb mono fishing 1/32 and 1/16 oz jigs under a float. The tackle bag is full of the basics, jig heads, plastics, glow sticks, and floats. I use mostly plastics. I would like to try some of the nicer hand tieds that are made by TFF members, but since I'm in the creeks and lose a lot of jigs i stick to whats easily available and fits the budget. Here are a few pics, hope you enjoy it. - Take the bait -
