little pond, little zebco, big fish - 08/25/15 04:41 PM

Thought it might be a good morning to hit the local areas today and it was. Went to Duck creek first but I guess we got more rain than I thought because it was flowing heavy. I go on down Jupiter to a small neighborhood pond, put a small top water pop r on the little zebco with 5lb line and head to the water, glad I had boots on. Started catching some nice LMB right away. The third fish was a good one and the last fish was the best. In all caught 12, 3 were 2lb or less the rest were 3-4 lb maybe that last one 5lb.

Fantastic day thumb

I've had great luck catching big bass in small, shallow ponds with my fly rod and poppers.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments.
Yesterday I went to my go to pond in Plano - Stoney Hollow.
I have always caught a lot of LMB mostly in the 1-2 lb range.
Prior to this I have caught at least 8 but yesterday I only got 5.
One about 3 lb and the rest were small. But I did get some large Grennies.

Today I went to Duck Creek. First cast, 3 lber. After that NOTHING.
There are some really nice fish in Duck Creek but they are hard to catch.
Makes you a better fisherman if you can get em Duck Creek.

What kind of popper you use? They don't like mine. I can work it through an area that's swarming with bass hitting the surface and they just ignore it. :p

This was in duck creek last night with my newborn...caught 5-6 in about 45 mins. I catch fish there all the time. In fairness I live a few blocks away and I get to fish it a lot. I wouldn't mind learning where that "pond" down Jupiter is!!!!!

Just an FYI...I believe that place is Private. Unless you live in that community you aren't supposed to fish there. They have signs posted all over that neighborhood. Don't want the cops called on you man. I realized where that pond was at after closer look at your photo.

The spot you are fishing is off Ponderosa correct? The first photos I was there 2 Yeats ago...I will be careful if that's what you are talking about.

It is NOT posted. I would never fish a private pond without permission.
