Info on the pond near Costco in SW Ft Worth - 07/27/15 04:02 PM

I have driven by dozens of times, seen the body of water from both ends but had never seen any bank fishermen until yesterday. As I was driving by around 8:30 AM, I saw about a half dozen or so fishing from the banks. They were still there about an hour or so later when I was returning home.

My questions are: 1) What species of fish are in there? 2) Where would one park? And, 3) How is the fishing?

Thanks for any ideas/info.

We had a bank tournament there which is why you saw so many anglers. I ended up winning with a best 5 bass length of 78.75". Fishing for bass was really good in the early morning hours and then hit a wall from about 9 on. AS far as species there is bass, mudcat, bluegill, and Ive heard of crappie being caught as well. You can park where ever. Pizz hut parking lot, Costco, Target, Saltgrass. And then just walk down to the ponds and fish. Grass/hydrilla is really thick so fishing can be difficult in some spots.

Bull, that is great! It is actually a nice looking stretch of water. I see from the Saltgrass side as I merge up on I-20, have looked over and never spotted a single bank fisherman; then, I drive down the street on the south side and, same thing.

Sounds like a nice place to head out in the morning to drop a line.

Fishing there is great. Most spots will produce fish. My favorite way to catch bass there is with a senko Texas rigged.
Its a very overlooked pond but I've pulled decent size and numbers fishing there in a couple of hours.

I would be very interested in fishing one of these tournaments. Can you pass along some info about these? Thank you

Its a great place to wet a line for a few hours for sure. Early mornings and right around sunset and into the night are the best times to fish it. You can catch fish in the middle of the day but it is MUCH tougher fishing during that time.

Stopped by last night...Couple people were out there fishing. The pond has a LOT of grass in many areas, some getting really thick. The pond is larger than I thought, I pretty much stayed near the Pizza Hut building. Didnt catch anything worth talking about but was interested in the other part of the pond (North end), how is the fishing as you move away from the Pizza Hut?

My cousin and I went out here last night. We started off near Pizza Hut, seeing the little cove-shaped area, but saw that it wasn't deep. Maybe six inches, then moved north along the west bank since the east bank isn't very accessible. We worked our way up and down, spending about 30 minutes at each place. Almost nothing was biting. A few light nibbles here and there but nothing exciting. Ended up catching one six inch catfish between the two of us. We didn't try much bass fishing though. Just a bit with a texas rigged brush hog.
