lake ray hubbard dam

Is this area below the dam open to fishing, any info would be helpful,i got the week off from work and um looking for some good dam catfishing

I see people fishing the channel between the dam and Hwy 80 every weekend. No water is being released now, so the flow is quite low, but there is still flow.

I use to fish the area often and caught sandies in the spring and only small buffalo the rest of the summer. I took a kayak upstream as far as I could go and there is a cable stretched across with do not enter signs.

Some of the best hybrid fishing after they let water out in spring right below the damn,5 to 10lbs every cast, but you better be prepared to do some running.
