Here's my first several jigs. Have a two year old so finding time to do this kinda stuff is sporadic at best. Tried painting some of the jigheads with fingernail polish. Learned that the pink and green I got don't really cover lead very well... might buy some powder paint. I already have a heat gun so thats probably the way to go...

Powder paint is what I use mostly, but I also use Vinyl Paint at times and know a guy that does all his with Vinyl and they look very good. He does them with a brush and doesn't even charge much to paint heads. So it can't be all that bad to do it like he does, but the biggest drawback is the drying time and it takes several coats. You have the White base, the color and then the clear top coat and you need the clear if you want it glossy!

Biggest draw back to powder paint is cost, includes the many paint colors you end up with and the fluid beds. I do use bought type and have tried the home made, but didn't care for them near as much as the bought ones. Then you do also have to cure the powder paint in the oven!

You can also do what some do which is unpainted heads. Then you can also just coat the unpainted lead with some Clear Sally Henson's Hard as Nails which is what I do I. Like the Gray Ghost and any unpainted heads I tie.

Looks like your tying is fine for a new guy too!

Thanks guys. Weather looks good this week, so I might just have to take a day off and give em a try, if I can find a lake that's not 10' over flood stage...
