Crappie Jig Tying 101 Text

Information taken from the YouTube video “Crappie Jig Tying 101” by WTxFishingAdventures

1. Clamp Jig head hook into the vice

2. string (thread) ~ start at an angle and go to the head, then reverse back until reaches the even with the hook tip, then wind forward, cut tag end.

3. tail material ~ marabou ~ eye ball the length ~~ place cut end at the head of the hook, then wrap thread around the hook shank, go back until it is even with the hook tip, then wind forward to just about 1/4 inch from the head.

4. flash ~~ tinsel material ~~ for flash ~~ wrap around ~~ lay the tinsel toward the back, you can space them apart, be as creative as you want ~~ go back to it is even with the hook tip, then wind forward to the head. If you get a long piece of flash you can trim it, if desired.

5. chenille ~~ body material ~~ place end piece at the jig head ~~ lay chenille along the back of the hook shank, tie it in by winding the thread, go back to it is even with the hook tip, then wind forward to the head ~~ wrap chenille around the hook shank ~~ when you reach the jig head, take your thread and wrap it around one time ~~ pull it tight and wrap the thread a few more times, pulling it tight ~~ cut the chenille close against the head. Pull out a little bit of thread, then use the whip finishing tool to form the knot. Give it a little dab of the head cement.
