Reelfoot Lake, Tenn. Trips

Reelfoot Lake, Tenn. Trips - 04/09/15 02:09 AM

I am booking Crappie and Bass fishing trips for Eagle Nest Resort on one of the oldest lakes in Tennessee. Reelfoot is about two hours North of Memphis just off the Mississippi River.

I am taking groups of 4 fisherman every week through May for 3 days of fishing. It is a one day drive there and one day back. I leave every Sunday with a new group. If interested give me a shout here or:

We just got back from Reelfoot Lake and couldn't have picked a worst time with all the storms and rain rolling through each day. We still managed to catch some great Crappie in the one to two lb. class. According to the guides it is fixing to break loose and it's nothing to catch 30 slabs each per day. I am ready to return and would like to take a group of 4 from this area ASAP..

Eagles Nest Resort has a very reasonable package per person and furnishes the rooms, boats, minnows and gas, with 3 days of fishing. We caught just as many on our own using the resort boats as we did with a guide. Everyone staying with them gets in on a FREE cook out twice per week. I take care of everything all you have to do is get in and go. So get 4 guys or gals together and lets catch some fish.

Some pictures of the place:

We weren't Bass fishing this trip but you know me. The guide got a little too close to those beautiful Cyprus trees.

John with a nice one:

I grew up there and my grandfather and his brothers guided there for years. Reelfoot is a beautiful and very unique place. It was formed by the New Madrid earthquake of 1811. Crappie fishing is outstanding! If you want to remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of big city life and step back 30 or 40 years, this is the place.

I grew up in Dresden, TN. and spent many wonderful days and nights on Reelfoot. Thanks for sharing Mr. Caldwell. We will have to make a trip and bring back some old memories.

Wow, didn't realize that your were from Dresden Sir. That's right down the road. I grew up in Union City and lived on Reelfoot for a while also. I have a lot of family from Samburg.

I don't know how old you are but I fished out of the old Reelfoot lake boats with the stick steering, seats flat on the floor. Some were 20ft. long and would seat 4 fisherman from front to back. They were made out of Cyprus and were filled with water each year to swell up the cracks between the boards then resealed with resin.

I fished and hunted with a legend, Johnny Cockran out of their resort. Johnny passed away in 2012 and was the go to man for Crappie, bass and ducks. Many considers his duck calls the best duck call made. I am proud to own one.
