Lake Tawakoni Report 11-9

Lake Tawakoni Report 11-9 - 11/10/16 02:06 AM

Lake Tawakoni has been fishing great the last 2 months and we've noticed the last 2 weeks it's gotten even better! Main lake temps are hovering about 72°....and the fish are really starting to feed hard. Lots of big channels with blues mixed in to about 15lbs.

The lake is down about 2.5ft and timber is barely showing in middle of lake so be careful when your running across mid lake areas.

The bigger blues are on a light feed and can be caught drifting in just about every depth on the lake. Cut shad is the choice of bait and shad is about as easy to catch as ever. I've never seen so much shad on the lake as now.

Daniel, Taylor, Teri and myself have been getting limits of catfish on all the trips last couple months. Lots of action and lots of great eating.

Thanksgiving Break is coming up and the catfish will be waiting. Figure out a way to get out to the lake and stretch the string!

Planning a trip to try our hand at catching the big blues. Have never tried this before. it will be between Christmas and New yrs. Any tips on how to find them sure would be appreciated. If you don't mind i know you make a living doing this. I will return fish for others to enjoy if i can find them Pleas help.
I do know the lake somewhat from channel cat fishing.

Water temps will be key. We feel like the lake is still Fishing like it's early October.

Assuming water temps will prob be warmer than desired I would plan on drifting in the 35-45ft range with fresh cut shad that can be caught on the lake that time of the year.

Make sure you have a good drift dock and cover lots of water.

If the water temp is below 50 consider anchoring near the southern river channel or breaks and ledges found on your map.

Good luck!

Water is starting to cool off...but not near as fast as I'd like it too.

Fish are still biting good:
