Friday is a big day for me ........ - 10/27/16 02:04 AM

Going fishing again on Twok and will try catfishing for the first time. Plan on taking CJ's that I'm hoping Academy in Waxahachie has and drifting it on a santee cooper rig. Will also try to net some shad early and use them on the same rig with # 4 or 5 hook?

Really looking for some eating size to get a mess to fry for a church group at our home ( maybe 14 -15 people).

Any advice on where to start drifting would be really appreciated, never fished from a boat for catfish except a couple of times years ago when we went with Bobbycatfishing guide on Lewisville.

Have a Helix 10 on the tritoon that I'm learning so I have the ability to see them just not the knowledge to identify them.

This will be the 4th time this new boat has been taken out smh.

Man I have no idea where to fish on Twok. I would guess look for shad on a flat and start there. The cats have been shallow on Lville best I can tell.

Maybe they will be shallow on Twok. Fresh shad are the best bait they say!

And I also went fishing with BobbyCatfishing once af ew years ago. Great guy! We had a blast. He no longer guides I am told. Too bad I would take another trip with him for sure.

Haven't been to TWOK in awhile, but I would probably start out shallow up north and then work my way deeper until I found them.

Well, I've done worse but also done a lot better. We used chicken breast on a Santee cooper rig with two oz. weight. Breezy early went down to Wolf Cove and caught 1 channel 1 1/2 lbs. in 26 foot of water. Drifted and had to use the trolling motor for an hour after the wind died down. Wind picked up later and we drifted through the treetops going to wind point, nothing. Came back to open water out from the dam and drifted picking up another 1 1/2 pounder and a 2 1/2 pounder in 32 foot of water. Tried north of 2 mile bridge also in 25-28 foot of water, nothing lol. We fished from 7am to 3 pm. Slow for us but I felt like the blind hog looking for the acorn.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep watching and trying to learn. Probably 2 weeks before I can go again. May have to try to anchor in the treetops next time.
