Drifting for Cats at Granger - 09/22/16 03:36 PM

gonna go out to granger and drift up and down the old path of the river. is this the right way to do it? I've read quite a bit about it, but just recently got a way to get out on the water, so I'm trying something new. only been a bank fisherman before now. thanks in advance for any words of advice yall have!

Do you have a graph? look for fish then drift.
most river channels hold fish. BUT they could be right on the river edge/ledge and your going right by them.
I graph into the wind if your using wind rather than trolling motor to drift. I go right over the area Im fixing to drift over and look for fish. If I locate them then I drift. If not I move on. My 2 cents.Of course side imaging makes this a lot easier for me

I got a fishfinder but I don't know how to use it really yet. looks like that's where I'll start then, thank you for the helpful pointer. I really appreciate it

A lot of good blues get caught there. Start right out in front of Taylor park boat ramp almost to the north side of the lake. Watch your graph, it will show you when you hit the river channel. We drifted the main lake Tuesday and caught 3 blues. The biggest one being 11 lbs. Had to use the trolling motor to make the boat move, no wind at all. We were using shad for bait. Might be out there tomorrow fishing, waiting on the weather for Sat. Don't mind the rain, but the lightening is something else. Good luck!

yes sir, I don't mess around when the big storms roll in. after I get paid next week I think the girlfriend and I are gonna go out there and camp and fish. I want to get the hang of drifting and then take this show on the road. my tawakoni trip earlier this year didn't pan out cause my transmission went out around waco. thank you for the advice on where to start, I'll update with my first catch out there
