Nick, the one on the left was most likely a female in the high 20's and the fish on the right was most likely a male in the mid 20's ( from what I've learned from tiny) and he was so full of air & gizard juice I had to burp em' 3 times just to get em' to go back down...
And Gato, the date was October the 31st... We we're three days into some crazy storms. The winds had laid down to a light 3 to 5 and shifted to the Northwest. I had been working my tail off at work that week and just couldn't catch a break and get out there. So that eenin after work, I had to make my coffee extra strong and throw on the big-boy boots. I had about 2 1/2 hours to make it happen. The rains had just let up and as I was headin across the lake to a bait area that had been producin really well I seen this... ( Marked it for ya )
I got excited and said " Oh my gosh I have got to get some bait and getum fast " !!! Wasn't happenin... I was throwin that net all over the lake like a mad man on just about any group of gizzards I could find but them sunzagons was in high alert and bailing and I was so tired from the previous days of hard work I couldn't hardly think straight. I had to stop for a second and take a break... I still had the boat cruisin at about 3 mph and as soon as I got my coffee poured I saw a decent wod of gizzards down deep... I said " aww hell " so I left my coffee sittin there sizzlin in da cold and grabbed my net again. I rared back and launched that sucker using just about every last ounce of energy I had left and hit paydirt...
I quickly thru em in the cooler, put my net up and headed out towards the fish. I didn't have enough energy to mess with anchors so I pulled out just a bit in front, got five poles in and started a drift. Shortly after, this happened...
