Range cubes

Going to run a few lines this weekend and got a little tip from an older gentleman about how to draw in bait fish around your lines.

He told me to spread range cubes along the line and that they will suspend between the surface and the bottom drawing in smaller bait

fish to feed on them. Not that I don't believe him, but wanted to see if anyone else has tried this and what the results were?

i use them 2 draw cat n my canal on lake LBJ like sowrd wheat...just not as smelly

Pretty sure they sink drop one in a 5 gallon bucket of water and see. It is an effective way to bait a hole for channel cats and using stink bait, we used to load the box with channel cats off the bank like that so I'm sure it will work on a trotline.

20% protein cubes sink to the bottom better. 16% protein tend to suspend a little.
So I have heard. I always buy the 20% as they have more molasses in them.
I don't know if the fish really care which but I like to have mine on the bottom since I mostly fish shallow.
Either way they are melted and coming apart within an hour and the little bits and pieces sink on down and are what brings in the bait fish.
