lake grapevine tomorrow - 01/14/16 04:36 AM

I am going to lake grapevine tomorrow to catch a 100 pound catfish that has already broken my line several times. I'm asking for prayers that this beast doesn't drag me out of the boat and into the spillway. I'm taking my new mako cast net and when I find some 12 inch shad I'm gonna rig up 6 8 foot rods with a total of 12 live 12 inch shad dangling down there. This dumb old catfish is gonna show up like he always does and break my line but when he gets ahold of it this time I'm gonna jump in the water with my life jacket on and just let him drag me till he gets tired. Wish me luck.

You really need to buy a go pro so we all can see this.

Not really...you can launch on Silver Lake's parking lot / road for $20 but I would not advise this. The lake is still 20' high. The COE has raised the release but it is going to take a long time. The Elm Fork is full. The COE is going to bring Lewisville (on account of its failing dam) down to its conservation pool before the gates at Gvine can be fully opened. Even then the capacity of Denton Creek between the Dam and the Elm Fork confluence is limited. I am personally betting El Niņo dumps some more water on us and Gvine won't be usable until sometime this summer.... Late summer most likely. We really could use some calm times so the Sand Bass can do their run unmolested by swift moving creeks.
