Lake Somerville Sunday December 6 - 12/07/15 02:53 PM
Caught 20 nice sized catfish up to 4# on CJ's Crawfish bait, 6-10 feet of water tight lines. Had a nice bite going all afternoon and then wind died and bite died. Wind switched to NW at 10-15 mph. Bite suddenly turned back on, same spot. Had to go in at dark and leave them biting. Incredibly beautiful day on the lake. Wondering where all the cormorants are, saw a few and a few pelicans. I wonder if the shad population/spawn was disrupted this year by the crazy water conditions and somehow the birds know it. Still see plenty of shad on the sonar but not so many birds. My son who has been cool to fishing for the last 5 years had a breakthrough day and it was a joy to be there to experience it together. He could not catch one for the first 3 hours despite many bites. He gradually figured out how to manage the bite and by the end of the afternoon was an ace and was kicking everyone else in the boats butts! What fun! We can't wait to go again! Kind of lonesome out there w no other boats on the lake :-)
