Lowrance HDS 9 Gen 2 or Gen 3?

Would I be making a mistake going with gen 2 to save about $800?

I think so. As soon as they come out with the new stuff they will no longer support Gen 2 stuff and if it needs repairing they will just give you an allowance toward new stuff. The Gen 3 will be supported for at least 2 more years.

I just got a gen 2 love it.They will last for ever I got several old hds sevens still work good.imo

I just purchased a couple gen 2 units myself.

I think the HDS Gen 2 Touch would be okay. The LSS can work without the box on it. The HDS Touch Gen 2 is suppose to be on sale tomorrow at Cabela's but I don't know how much...my wife tossed out the circular I got in the mail.

The know thing that scares me about side imaging is the $200+ transducers.
