Looking to buy my first boat

Looking to buy my first boat - 11/17/15 01:29 AM

I'd like opinions on a few boats I've picked out.
I'm really leaning towards a center console.
Just can't decide on mod V tunnel hull using prop,
Or a mod V flat bottom with a jet motor.
I mainly catfish. I want to be able to go in shallow rivers but still handle in the open lakes

I've heard issues about them clogging alot and it can be a hassle to clean.
Could a tunnel hull and prop do the same depth?

Before you buy check out the folks at tinboats.net. lots of high floating jets around there.

I own a Wellcraft 20' CC. Great for catfishing, but not for shallow water.

I have a 21' Robalo CC tunnel hull that will draft in 1.5' and rides like it is on a rail. I had a shallow running aluminum, but will never go back after owning a heavier and safer boat.

Shallow means different things to different folks. To a flats guy, 1.5 ft won't cut it. When you say shallow, I'm thinking about getting in and out of 12" of water. No V is going to do that. Unless you want to pole through 6" of water in the bays, I think a jon MV with a jack plate would get you just about anywhere you would want to go. It just depends on what kind of fishing you are going to do the most of. There is no such thing as an all purpose boat.
