What does timber look like on Side Scan. What does fish in timber look like? Say you wanted to cruise next to timber in 6-10' FOW and wanting to see if it's worth fishing.

Out in open water I can read and really trust my side imaging. Up in heavy timber it is useless to me. I have a real tough time finding fish in heavy timber. A tree here and there is easy to detect and differentiate from fish. However, when I get in heavy timber it just gets really hard for me to tell the difference between fish and timber on side scan.

A basic rule you can follow is looking at the shadows. Does the shadow appear to have separation from the object being mark? If so then you are most likely looking at fish. If the shadow is connected to the object being marked then you are marking trees, rocks, bolders, ect.
