Waco Yesterday - 10/02/15 06:14 PM

I took a couple of guy out to Waco yesterday things started off real slow most the mornings so i have been starting a bit later then in the summer. The bite really doesn't pick up till 9-10 then it was hit is hit and miss we would catch 8-9 in a spot then have to move we stopped fishing at 130 we ended the day with 33 fishing they were larger then we have been catching over the past few weeks but nothing over 3-4 lbs most were in 1 1/2 lbs 15-16in it was a short day I decide to go back out after i dropped them off and try a few deeper spots and made a few short drifts they produced 5 blues fishing with hairing i only had 2 rods with me but every time I made a pass up a drop off i would pick one up tuesday i took 2 guys out who wanted to try for larger blues out on limestone using shad, bluegill and hiring. we caught 28 with 4 over 10lbs they did not keep any they just wanted to fish. it was the 4th time this year we had gone out together. all the larger fish came of hairing and bluegill the Hairing really seem to work very well they are very oily . I buy them frozen from asian stores either here in killeen or in Austin using them I am able to fish longer with not having to through that net and seemed to catch more fish then the rods baited with shad

Limestone is still producing a lot of channels in 1-3foot range on cheese bait in the shallows just have to wait till the sun comes out and warns up around 10 till then i am fishing the main lake trees and stumps in 12-22ftwith cheese bait

i am going to take the kids out to Belton sunday after my daughters birthday party and try some drifting out by baloria I dont like belton at all in fact i hate it but i give it a shot a few times a year in the winter.

I have to thank Dunky Dude for the web site a gain it has kept me busy as hell the past 3 weeks or so

I do want to let every one know I dont think I will have any bait for sale next year I am going to thailand for 3 months next summer so if any one one was it you can order it now and store it in the frig I am going to ask a fried to sell some for me when he gets back from Afghanistan in a few moths I am just going to make a whole bunch up and let him sell it when its gone its gone till I get back.

If you do go to Belton, please don't go to Limestone or Waco for at least a week. No one wants those zebra mussels in any of our other lakes. Just a reminder to be mindful of how bad the mussels have made Belton.

no wash my bout down with soap and bleach mix and water in and out ok i dont but my kids and mother in law do when i put in at beton stillhouse and waco have muscles as well i have seen shells on the shore line of granger i dont know how bad they are or if they are zebra muscles but there was a buch of old shells on the shoer were we pulled up to get some shad a few weeks ago. I dont fish Granger much unless someone request it and I cant talk them out of it. But your right I it would suck for lime stone to end up like belton someday it is such a great lake for every thing. I read the server they did 2 yrs ago out there. after i read it i wanted to try it this year. with the above average number of catfish with channels out numbering all others it is the only lake I put up with the discomfort and pain for i am normally still hurting the next day after the drive out there it truly is one of the best kept secrets in tx on a busy weekend you might see 7-10 boat and that is a really busy day on the lake most weekdays it is completely empty I have the place to my self more people need to fish it and start keeping them or it cold end up being over run . even thou sooner or later it will happen some some will not clean there boat off or a bird will transplant them to the inlet rivers and creeks or the main lake and it will be ruined this time of year i stay close to home and unless its better in early spring all summer for what i do my next 3 trips are to granger next week i am not even sure i will make it out to belton my daughters birthday is tomorrow and after that i need to see how my back is doing getting back in shape has become more of a priority right now a year of not going to the gym i feel like a slug so i started going to the gym every day even when i have trips i cant stand being out of shape

Isn't telling someone to not go fish a certain lake for a specific period just a little over the top. I think we all aware of the zebra mussel problem and the precautions we need to take.

It appears to be there's a lack of respect for specific group of people around here. Don't do this, don't do that kinda of tone when no one is breaking the law or harming anyone. For that type of voice, silence is the best response.

Which group would that be? I didn't know there were different groups here.

I wasn't trying to make anyone mad. I still talk to people that aren't aware of zebra mussels at all and especially how bad they are in Belton. Keeping quite will not help make sure my two boys have good fishing in the future. Chemdawg didn't take it the wrong way.

Suggesting he let's his boat dry for a week isn't out of line at all. It says to prevent transporting zebra mussels, clean your boat and let it dry AT LEAST 1 week on tpwd's website. Are they out of line too? Won't stop the mussels I don't think but can't hurt.

People sure are getting sensitive about what is said here on the forum. Can't wait for winter.

Nice trip by the way chem.!!

If you are a fishing guide and have trips booked on different lakes, are you going to let your boat sit on the trailer for a week? I doubt it.

From the website:
"Possession or transportation of prohibited aquatic invasive species is illegal.
Report violations to (800) 792-4263 TexasInvasives.org

If your boat has been stored on infested waters:
Having the vessel professionally cleaned and allowing it to dry thoroughly
for at least a week helps ensure all mussels are removed and killed."

And I said I don't think it will stop the mussels, and honestly I'm not sure having mussels is the end of the world. My comment was about how people are so quick to be offended here on the forum. The guy made a suggestion to help prevent invasive species..

I know chem doesn't store his boat there and said he cleans it thoroughly, so again my comments are about the ones that get the panties all bound up so quickly...

Re: Waco Yesterday - 10/05/15 09:12 PM

we caught 7 fish only 5 were keepers and they came out of 35-40 fishing humps all the keepers were on haring but they were only 14in nothing to get excited about one on shad to small to keep and the other on bluegill to small to keep . i fish it because if i cut across the road by my house on post it takes me 20 mins its the closest ramp to me. we can fish for 4-5 hrs and have time to pick up my daughter. and No i Would not ever guid on that lake. i would just feel like i was ripping people off

Re: Waco Yesterday - 10/05/15 10:07 PM

just so were clear I have the kids clean my boat with bleach soap and water in a bucket. lefter over water gets dumped on the floor want sprayed down the deck. when they have time the really clean it. Its kind of hard to miss the zebra muscle sign on every ramp not using your boat for a week is not a requirement of the regulations basically if you do the minimum the rest is a judgment call I have only met one other person who actuly cleans his boat from front to back

Using a cooler with some ice in it instead of using my live well sure make clean up easier. Them ol blues will puke zebras and really screw up a live well and pumps/valves. Down side is the cooler takes up a lot of walking room in my little 175 Tracker.
