How much?

Figured someone here would know.

Talking to the guys at the ramp last night there was a mention of the trot lines in the river. Seems there is an 82 year old that sets those. Said he sells about 800 lbs a week. Is that a lot?

Any idea as to how much they bring at market.

Thanks.

Are you from Texas? Because this is HIGHLY illegal

Commercial fishing for catfish and Asian carp are major industries around here.

Hmmm. If it's illegal you're probably not going to be able to answer my question.

PH, it's legal to commercially fish with a trotline for certain freshwater catfish. I have no idea what the licensing requirements are, but, from the Texas commercial fishing regulations book:

Trotline:

NONGAME fish, channel catfish and blue
catfish may be taken by trotline.

For trotlines fished under a commercial
license, flathead catfish may not be
retained or possessed.

Not a clue what the going market rate is or how much is a 'good' haul.

You don't want these Asian carp. They will kill you. I have had two hit my pontoon boat. Neighbor had fence dented by one.

They launch themselves airborne in front of boats. Dangerous.
