Lavon Blue Cats-Reynolds Guide Service - 09/09/15 03:42 PM

The blue cats are biting. Mostly good eating box fish are biting now. But the larger trophy fish will biting as the weather cools. Come on out and fish in my comfortable 22' pontoon. I furnish all bait, tackle and bottled water for the trip. Plus clean and bag your catch at the boat ramp. I will also be making the trip to Lake Tawakoni a few times this winter for the large trophy blues. Check out my pictures and rates on my website and give me a call if you would like me to take you fishing this fall and winter.

You'll have to turn your boat right side up or I'd fall out before we got started. frkazoid

You have some very competitive rates. This would be a great deal for someone wanting to learn how to target blues.

Don't get caught cleaning fish at Lavon, game warden will write you up.

You can clean fish, just put the carcasses in buckets and dispose of properly.

Good luck with that on Lavon. Both game wardens have made it clear they do not allow fish cleaning at the lake period. I know what the regs say,but they are the guys with the ticket books. I would think that as a guide, the op would like to be on the game wardens good side. If you don't believe me, ask Carey Thorn (Tarponfly) his experience.

I haven't had any problem with them but I will stay on their good side for sure or go somewhere else to clean if they do give me a problem. Don't want to stir them up. Don't need a ticket for sure.

You will not have a problem with Josh or Leroy if you are properly disposing of fish waste. If putting into a bucket and haulin away they will not hassle you. If you are cleaning fish and throwing carcasses back into the water or throwing into the dumpster then yes, you will likely get a ticket. Most dumpster clearly state that fish carcasses are not to be dumped there. Folks don't want the carcasses rotting right at the shoreline smellin up the parks either.

Any one else notice that the fish in the bottom right pic, being held in the lap of a young man, looks a lot like a gigantic channel cat, anal fin looks a bit rounded. not the tapered strait edge that you see so pronounced in Lavon Blues.
Then again could be just me.

Yeah, that was 36 pounder from Lavon. Little man (my grandson Kaden) still bragging bout that fish. The rod went down and he caught it all on his own. He took his time and played it perfect. His Dad netted the fish for him. Just wish we had filmed it. Maybe this winter he'll improve on his PB!

We practice CPR on all our fish over 10 pounds. Catch, Photo, Release. We try to make sure they have "burped" and they are healthy before releasing to be caught again. There are plenty of box fish for eating in the area lakes.

You need to count the rays. Sometimes a blue will look that way when you hold it that particular angle.

So, what's "proper" disposal of carcasses?

Re: Lavon Blue Cats-Reynolds Guide Service - 09/16/15 02:56 PM

Landfill, garden etc. anywhere but the park dumpster and along the shoreline.

I put in large drum size plastic bags, then freeze and put in the trash on collection day. No smell that way or irritated neighbors! smile I keep the bottom shelf in the freezer empty so always have room.
