Advice need for first time to Sam Rayburn - 09/02/15 05:46 PM

I am staying in a cabin on the south east side of Sam Rayburn this weekend. I have never been there before and know absolutely nothing about the lake.

I am assuming the parks will be relatively full of swimmers/campers/pleasure boaters so I assume I should avoid those areas.

Can anyone recommend some bank spots that will be relatively isolated? I'm willing to drive a little bit but would rather not have to drive all the way around the lake.

Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There is a park just west of the dam.

There is verry little bank access considering the lake is surrounded by national forrest.

We might also go over to toledo bend for a day. Is there a special license for that lake like at texoma?

Our cabin is not in the national forest.

Depending on where you are staying most all of the boat ramps offer a park of some kind with bank access. Also most of the bridges are fishable. Not much access to Rayburn other than public parks.
